Job #5373 - Designer II
The expectation is Designer will have a good working knowledge of computers and software such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook Email. The client will provide specialized Designer training and instruction including training in WMIS and ArcFM. Designers are expected to have a reasonable aptitude for learning in these areas.
Designer will be expected to have general electric utility knowledge and above average ability and prior training as required to perform the work as described herein. All services and equipment will be rendered so as not to adversely affect Companies' relations with other suppliers, peer companies, customers and the general public.
Designer cannot begin work until after background checks, to be conducted by Company, are completed and approved as these designers will have unescorted access to Company offices. The background process can take up to 10 days from the time fully completed background investigation information is provided to the client by Supplier. Designer will be issued a Contractor ID badge by the Company.
The minimum required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience for a designer must include the following: - 4 years related work experience. - Working knowledge of electric distribution design and construction, estimating and NESC codes. - Working knowledge of Electric Distribution Utility Systems including Street Lights installation, maintenance and conversations. -
Skills and abilities related to verbal and written communication, planning and organization, time management, negotiation, problem solving, decision making; project coordination; logical and abstract thinking and computer literacy. - Working knowledge of how to use computers including the use of software such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and Outlook Email software.
Company will provide Supplier's designers with computers, related software and intranet computer system connection, a furnished office cubicle including an office land-line phone, plus office and field supplies as well as any specialized training and instruction, not reasonably anticipated by Supplier. Designer are expected to normally work 40 hours per week and on all Company business days, along with required overtime hours in rare instances when approved in advance by Company's authorized personnel. Designer will perform all the major functions of Company Distribution Project Designers in support of the LED Street Light conversion process. Working environment will include office work and field work which will occasionally involve cold, heat, and other adverse conditions. The major functions and support will include but are not limited to: - Act as a liaison between Company and VEPGA customers regarding LED Street Light conversions, designs, permits, inspections, rebuilds, NESC interpretation and Company policy. - Prepare related construction project designs and cost estimates and notifications. - Assure proper transactions of payments and billing. - Prepare and maintain files of agreements, permits, surveys, inspections, and rebuilds as needed. - Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Most travel will be day trips. (Limited to no overnight travel.) Company provided vs. contractor provided vehicle TBD. Potential for work location to be downtown which will require contractor provided parking/fees.
