The Equipment Development and Maintenance (EDM) department of Research Laboratories has an engineering position available in the Rahway, New Jersey research facility. It is a Pilot Plant/laboratory-based role to support API development operations. Roles include executing capital and expense improvement projects in the capacity of a project/field engineer to enhance key factors (such as compliance, reliability, operability, maintainability, efficiency, capabilities/new technology, capacity). Additionally, the following skills are required for the position:

Required Technical Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of Pilot Plant and Lab facilities/equipment, from an operations and maintenance perspective. Able to read/understand P&IDs.
Experience as a field engineer/supervisor who oversees contractors / union mechanical crews on construction projects.
Adept in multi-tasking, able to effectively and efficiently manage work on multiple fronts across multiple small projects (typ. range of 10K to <$1MM scale) in varying stages of project development and execution.
Ability to execute design/build projects where design may not be formally developed/documented and occurs simultaneously with construction to expedite timelines in support of business goals (e.g., campaign start dates).
Startup, commissioning and qualification experience.
Strong Compliance mindset. Knowledge of cGMP practices/requirements as well as Safety requirements a must.
Experience with Electrical Classifications for solvent and dust (Class I and II, Div I and II).
Strong background in Controls – Process Automation and/or Building Automation Systems
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems/equipment, both process and non-process.
Skilled in executing projects in an active Production area, recognizing compliance and operational considerations associated with working with projection staff, research chemical operators, maintenance staff, engineers and supervisors.
In addition to the required skills, the following skills are highly desirable:
Experience with development of new technologies (process equipment/instrumentation)
Familiarity with executing mechanical setups for API processing equipment trains
Trained in use of SAP for Plant Maintenance and/or Financial Business Systems management
Experience in Process Analytics Technology (PAT)
Experience developing/managing Safety programs for contractors/vendors
