The Spear Group is looking to fill 4 Strategic Designer positions located in New Orleans, LA. These will be contract positions for 6 months.
The strategic design team develops solutions informed by deep consumer research and insight. Their role is to uncover the intangible attitudes, behaviors and motivations that drive people’s choices and desires. They identify consumer pain points and frictions, and create contextually impactful opportunities through empathetic design thinking.

Research frictions and exemplars

•Conduct quantitative and qualitative researches for product
•Build deep understanding of the product and research interesting exemplars in the marketplace
•Understand and communicate barriers to delivering

product and develop innovative solutions to overcome them
•Anticipate changes in trends and subsequent implications for user frictions and product design
•Bring your research to life through personas, customer journeys, insight-opportunity frameworks, system maps, stories and scenarios

Provide actionable user insights

•Translate findings from research to actionable insights
•Provide insight to the Product manager on what “state of the art” looks like; help define the “art of the possible
•Understand strategic needs for the product and work with Experience designer to translate these to the UX/UI designs

Partner with Experience designer and Product Manager

•Follow through the products journey to ensure product appropriately addresses user frictions
•Works as a partner with and challenges the Product Manager by asking the right questions

Shared Accountabilities and collaborations

•Shares accountability with Experience designer to deliver designs that address user frictions
•Facilitates and leads activities with the Team to understand user frictions

Key Performance Indicators

Set up products to deliver strategic value in line with design intent.

•Capture user's frictions in product design
•Co-create with Product manager and Experience designer to deliver user centric products.

Minimum experience required of the position
•5+ years of experience, withproven record in Business Analysis and/or 3+ years in Strategic Design, A background with product prototyping and testing, future visioning and strategy development required.
•Bachelor's degree required

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
•Proficiency in PC Windows environment (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
•Experience with ethnographic research (quant. and qual.), divergent exploration, conceptual development and industrial design.
•Proven experience turning research findings into clear and actionable insights.
•Forward thinking, innovative; curiosity for technology, UX/UI, applications.
•Entrepreneurial, experience in the start-up scene and/or with innovative tech firms.
•Experience with or strong eagerness to learn/adopt Agile ways of working.
•Team oriented and flexible with proven track record in collaborating with multiple stakeholders and driving results, especially via influence management.
•Experienced in working with executives and influencing across the organization.
•Must be self-motivated, have high integrity and credibility and be able to work independently.
•Must be flexible and have ability to interface with a diverse group of individuals and cross-functional teams.
•Ability to communicate effectively in both digital and business settings.
