Competent in all conventional survey aspects of providing land surveying support associated with the establishment of transmission lines, substations, and miscellaneous projects company-wide under the direction of supervisor and/or work leaders. Provide direction and schedule survey field crews. Attend project meetings and prepare survey project work summaries. Coordinate survey requests between company and approved contractors. Analyze and interpret plans and specifications to determine work procedures. Compile and calculate survey data. Verify and approve drawings to ensure adherence with survey fundamentals, specifications and established company standards. Approve and process survey field notes and transmit to internal departments. Research both internal and external data records to obtain right of way, easement and company fee owned documents and deeds. Provide GIS support as assigned. Perform quality control checks on LIDAR survey data files. Review, approve and transmit PLS CAD survey files to be used by transmission engineering. Determine methods and procedures for establishing or re-establishing survey grade control. Proficient in construction layout.
Knowledge of surveying theories and principles and CAD. Skilled in algebra, trigonometry and geometry. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Computer skills. Ability to analyze drawings and specifications and to make precise decisions. Effective planning and organization skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently or in a team environment. Working knowledge of Global Positioning System practices and procedures and various GIS software and applications. Working knowledge of PLS CAD software, Microstation, AutoCAD and Carlson survey software.
